Judge Angel Harris has served Section L of the Orleans Parish Criminal District Court since January 2021. After a career as a Louisiana public defender and civil rights attorney, she entered the judiciary with a commitment to fair and impartial administration of the law, respect for every person who enters the courtroom, and a belief that strong systems require both accountability and collaboration.

Her first six years on the bench have allowed her to put those principles into practice while gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges, opportunities, and responsibilities that come with judicial service. As she begins another six years in Section L, Judge Harris remains focused on maintaining a fair and effective courtroom, strengthening appropriate connections between the court and community resources, and continuing to develop practical approaches to the needs she encounters through her work.
